Stroll or bike across the pedestrian walkway at the center of the bridge for spectacular views of lower Manhattan, the Statue of Liberty, and New York harbor as it opens at the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. To the north, you'll see a series of bridges linking Manhattan to other parts of Brooklyn and Queens, as well as the jewel-like tops of the Empire State and Chrysler Buildings. The bridge itself is an exciting piece of engineering and architecture. The Anchorage is the site of art exhibits and concerts, and it's a great place to cool off after a walk across the bridge.

Brooklyn was incorporated into New York City in 1898; the remains of its days still exist in the somewhat fragmented downtown. It has the largest population of observant Jews outside Israel, and to get a glimpse of their beliefs and much of the city's history, head to Borough Park.
