The city is also a mix of the old and the new, with the modern district of Gueliz or Ville Nouvelle in European style thriving just as busily as the old historical Medina. The components of these districts are in sharp contrast with each other so that tourists should not fail to spend equal time exploring these two. If you want the brand stores and boutiques, then don't go looking for one at the Medina as only local shops can be found there. But mind you, the local shops also hold their own interesting characters and specialty wares.

There is so much to see, do, and taste in Marrakech that a week spent there will still not cover everything about the city. Still, there are must-visit areas such as the Medina but also individual attractions such as El Bahia Palace, Saadian Tombs, and Djemaa El-Fna.
